Happy Halloween, Day of the Dead, and Mercury Retrograde ???

They say that when Mercury is in retrograde, technology and communications go awry. So why not keep in old school and give Morse code a try?

…or not and maybe just enjoy this dashy-dotty Morse quilt instead

The Morse quilt is a bit of a collaboration. On my last trip, I stitched up four of these lil patchwork quilts from my newly acquired stash of hand block-printed fabric. Then I passed them on to Kunvarben, an expert embroiderer/general wizard with a needle and thread, to do the finishing details — stuffing, top stitching, and tassels, all by hand.

Whenever I’m in Kutch, I can’t get enough of all the beautiful ajrakh (block print) fabric…I’m such a sucker for that indigo!

Above, Kunvarben holding up one one the finished Morse quilts! (Don’t you just love that peacock painted on the front wall of her house?! ?)

More soon, stay tuned.
